Broken and Multiplied

Seemingly biological sister, Arieona June Ronal (Malaysian), has been instrumental since the prayer conference in AUP.

God has to break you in order to multiply you.
One day before my flight to Malaysia, I experienced a heart break. The man I was praying for, a close friend, spoke to me and said he wanted to just be friends.

Yes, there was a still small voice that was directing me that we weren’t growing in faith together and God isn’t the center of our relationship and it should end. I graciously told my friend that i also prayed for us and I know it is God’s will for us to just stay friends and not pursue a relationship. We had grow apart.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails. Proverbs 19:21

I couldn’t understand why I still felt emptyness and rejection even if I knew without a doubt that it is God’s will. Feelings of sadness would come rushing in when my mind would wander even for just a few seconds.

In God’s mercy, God kept me busy with work until our flight to Malaysia the next day. We arrived in Kuala Lumpur early morning on Thursday and were blessed to stay at Nunuk’s house.

I saw how Nunuk valued prayer and how prayer is the only fuel for AOY to take place. I was able to share my personal testimonies that day to a few people and the Lord used those to make me remember how He has blessed me. Every minute was a struggle to shun the feelings of rejection with the memories of God’s goodness. The wound was still fresh but my heart was slowly healing.

Evening came, and when all were sleeping, I got up and wrestled with God in prayer. I was tired of struggling with my emotions and I prayed an impossible prayer. I prayed earnestly for Him to heal my heart that same night and to wake me up the next morning without even a scar of the heart break. It was the only thing I could do.

This is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. 2 Kings 20:5

The Lord led me to read Letters to Young Lovers. EGW said, “You must not be ready to dispose of your heart’s affections. You are young and you are unsuspecting. You will surely be deceived unless you are more guarded. God has purposes for you which Satan wishes to defeat. Give yourself unreservedly to God; connect with heaven.” [LYL 54.4I]

I knew at that moment God will bless me abundantly through this trip and He will still use me for greater things after. I will not let my emotions hinder God’s Blessings. I surrendered my all to Him in prayer.

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18

The next day I woke up and with God’s power, everything was made clear to me how I should be thankful of what has happened. I was no longer struggling because God has won the battle. It was part God’s perfect plan.

That Friday, we went to places, saw the nature and tasted the food. We transfered to another house with a Godly family. God blessed us through their family by showing us how a godly husband and a godly wife are. The preparation day ended with me completely prepared for the Sabbath. It was a Sabbath full of grace. We learned how to study the Bible, met new friends over a sumptuous lunch, and studied Revelation 17: 8-13.

Blessings came pouring down the next days. We went to a Botanical Park, a Butterfly garden, a Cactus Garden, a farewell party of a young man who has decided to give his life to the Lord, and to Aenon Health Center. Time flew swiftly and before we knew it, we were on the bus to Penang, hours away from the start of AOY.

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10

To attend AOY as a part of the prayer ministry team was an answered prayer. We had a chance to pray with the speakers and to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in AOY,  Penang and all over the world beside a waterfall.

I was blessed to hear all the testimonies from different people on how the Lord has given them mercy and grace through the years. These testimonies of the youth empowered me to remain steadfast in my faith too. There’s a beauty in Christ-centered testimonies that catch my heart each and every time. I decided to attend the sessions on “Knowing God’s Will for Your Life”.

All the messages I heard had been so personal, it was like the Lord was teaching me face to face. Indeed, He is the Best Professor we can have. After one evening message, I was rebuked by God and I went straight to the prayer room to seek forgiveness from God pleaded with Him in tears to change me completely according to His character.

After my prayer, a lady approached me and asked if we could pray together. She wanted to pray for her family and her children. As the prayer ended, I told her all my troubles and God gave me my first spiritual parent. I’m always praying for her and her family.

Also I gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between us, so they would know that I the LORD made them holy. Ezekiel 20:12

We all experienced a high sabbath in Penang. It started with emphasizing the importance and beauty of Sabbath by illustrating it as a candle in a pitch black room. Brother Gem Castor said that during Sabbath, all the earthly cares are silenced and we are drawn to God, the only Source of Light. And the best way to lift up the Sabbath is to kneel down in humility and pray to our Creator.

We also had the chance to share our testimonies at a church in Penang SDA Church during hour of worship. Praise God for these opportunities to share how He can deliver us through impossible situations, for us to be refined and trasformed to have His character in us! *Kindly read the Penang Sojourn: When God Multiplies the Effort on Addition

On our way home to KL, I sat next to an Aenon professor in the bus. We were immensely blessed for he gave us Bible studies and also taught us how to study the Bible, although the bus ride took 12 hours!

The last few days were spent counting all the blessings God gave us and how he has done “immeasureably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20.

We are now back in the Philippines, and God has given each of us opportunities, big and small, to share our AOY stories and all the blessings we experienced. Our testimonies are piling up, but we all have is eternity to share these. May we all remain steadfast in our heavenly duties. We are hoping to see our AOY friends (Malaysians and other foreign friends) in the Philippines.
