ATTA CALABARZON’s historic first business to business (B2B) event was crowned with success at the Queen Margarette Hotel on November 29, 2016, dubbed as “B2B: CALABARZON to ASEAN to the WORLD! A Tourism Soiree!”
The Department of Tourism Region IV-A (CALABARZON) had given its huge support through the honored guests, Asec. Maria Lourdes Japson and Regional Director Rebecca Labit (in absentia), represented by Ms. Marites Castro, Accreditation Unit, Provincial Tourism Officers (OIC): Ms. Liberty Herrera – Cavite, Ms. Regina Austria – Laguna, Atty. Sylvia Marasigan – Batangas, Mar Bacani – Rizal, Mr. Alberto “Jun” Bay -Quezon and other guests: Ms. Len Barba President of BATOA and Mr. Sonny Lozano President of Batangas Tourism Council.
Improving the accreditation system through NTDP
Asec. Maria Lourdes Japson emphasized in her speech that her presence and support is a polite gesture of the DOT Regional Office (IV-A). She acclaimed some programs of the Department of Tourism, particularly NTDP (National Tourism Development Plan).
“NTDP was launched on November 23, 2016. Supposedly it was near launching, but it turned out to be a tourism summit. Why? We need to hold our NTDP because we need to align it to the national development plan created by NEDA (National Economic and Development Authority).
I know everyone is waiting for NTDP because it serves as the bible of tourism establishments and tourism related enterprises.
To give you an overview of what NTDP: The NTDP 2011-2016 is the medium term pin board for enhancing the competitiveness of the Philippine tourism sector by focusing on marketing diverse and high quality destinations and products, improving international and domestic access and connectivity, and destination infrastructure in addressing policy and institutional reforms in improving tourism agents capabilities.”
She emphasized that it was created by the previous administration (2011-2016) and the current administration under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte (2017-2022) would continue it. It would just be aligned with the national development plan.
“Under the DOT Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation, Coordination and Resource Generation (TRCRG) Alma Rita Jimenez, we have a lot of plans for the regional including of course, CALABARZON. One of the highlights, we would be improving the accreditation system to encourage little enterprises – tourism-related enterprises to get it to accreditation. I believe only big companies want to be accredited. With this program, everybody will be accredited.”

Meanwhile, Lax Junnel Mendoxa, President of ATTA CALABARZON, ASEAN Master Assessor 2016 expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone, especially the sponsors and sellers:
