Bag943 has turned 4th this month, and yet the passion for the pursuit to help more impoverished and underprivileged children has never been changed.
Read the throwback post: BAG943: Triumphant at Three, the 3rd anniversary feature.
Mini reunion at the Book Launch of the Year
In between those years were plans to join the bag drive for the Bag of Dreams Project, interview attempts, and meeting invitations. Since he’s been in the USA for other business ventures with Doc Anton Lim, his brotherly mentor, chances were few to meet again.
Doc Anton is recently recognized by Forbes Asia as one among Asia’s Heroes of Philanthropy in 2016. He belongs to the billionaire’s level. The secret is his humility and his hard work in channeling the blessings to change more lives, which is actually priceless. (Feature soon). You can read my old feature: An Encounter with a Bayaning Filipino
It’s providential that when Josh was featured as one of the 21 world-class Filipinos in Mike Grogan’s The Rise of the Pinoy: 7 Powerful Lessons pf Success from 21 World-class Filipinos (check this to read the book review), I was invited to the Independence Day event at Fully Booked which is dubbed: ‘The Book Launch of the Year’ on June 12, 2016.
It was refreshing to have seen the Bag943 family with Josh. I consider them my extended family as well, for their advocacy has been mine too.
Duet with Gary Valenciano
Recently, one of Josh’s dreams came true when he finally had a duet of a lifetime with Gary V., a very inspiring Christian singer and entertainer/actor, whom he looked up to since his younger years. I don’t know the details how it happened, but Doc Anton has something to do with it. I actually teased him during the launch “when would you have a concert with Mr. Pure Energy, Gary V?”. He just chuckled. It won’t be far from there, methinks.
I’ve observed that Josh has been gifted, not only with a compassionate heart, but with talent in singing. Although I haven’t seen him singing live, I’ve seen some of his videos while rendering soulful songs. People like him, with hearts full of praise and thanksgiving are those who render gratitude and glory which belongs to the Giver and the Provider, none other than God.
Great things start from small beginnings. It won’t be long, he would have a concert with Gary V., for real.
I hope to have a complimentary ticket, haha!
My Puhunan and the culture of generosity
Meanwhile, Josh and Bag943’s story were featured in Karen Davila’s My Puhunan. It is a T.V. program (ABS-CBN) where uplifting stories of people who succeeded in changing their lives for the better, to serve as an inspiration to families everywhere who hope for a better life and brighter future, are being featured.
I remember that reaction of a friend (elementary batch mate) when she saw the link of 700 Club Asia’s feature for Josh as an Individual Nominee for Huwarang OFW Award 2016. She asked me to confirm if he’s the same guy who was featured in My Puhunan. I undoubtedly affirmed, “yes he’s the same guy”, and explained how she could help him bag the award that could eventually help more kids through the Bag of Dreams Project. She said, she cried when she saw and learned about his story, how he succeeded and has been used by the Lord to be a huge blessings to others.
Yes! Josh has been an advocate of hope and dream-come-true, as he makes ripples of inspiring influence to many people, old and young alike. His story is a classic and living testimony of a transformed life to savor others’ lives. Personally, I never get tired of his story. His legacy of cultivating the culture of generosity would live on.
700 Club Asia and The Bag of Dreams Project
To pay forward more of God’s blessings and the harvest of the seeds of kindness and generosity planted in his heart through the years (through supporters of Bag943), he hopes to have this unprecedented award, and make the impoverished children the recipients of the monetary gift.
“100% of the prize money goes to more bags for the kids.” Josh

Recent Bag Drive at Sua and Culasi National High School in Sorsogon and blessed 400 students with new school bags, in partnership with the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.
Furthermore, Bag943 would be in these areas for the upcoming Bag Drive.
- August 9-11, 2016 – Guimaras
- September 11-13, 2016 – Zamboanga Del Norte
- September 24-26, 2016 – Sorsogon
You can help in three ways:
- PURCHASE a backpack (diversity bag, university bag) and another backpack goes to a kid.
- Donate an amount which would be equivalent for the backpacks for kids or purchase the GIVE BAG.
- The bag drives would be merrier with more volunteers. You can explore the picturesque destinations while etching lovely memories in the children’s hearts.
What are you waiting for? Join the compassionate campaign now and be blessed!
