“Slow down I could; STOP, I never would!”
This has been my personal mantra since I started running seriously. Distance running is what I meant when I said serious running.
I ran a few kilometers in Pasay last Sunday, and had a bonding on the road with Nicole. She’s a friend who’s not a runner, she’s more of a swimmer. It was a delight that she invited me. Our plan that lingered like ages finally materialized. We had endorphin boost!
I also ran to break in the new kicks I’ve gotten for a 50% off! Saucony 5 (Natural Series) is not only comfy but so chic! Review about my Saucony shoes later. I’m grateful that buying a new pair of shoes helped me motivate myself in gaining weight. Call me weird, but I often thought of taking extra effort to eat and go to the gym for project gain weight. My reward would be resuming training and joining races.
After all, my old Saucony shoes served well and deserve to retire after 2 years of service: 3 official 21K, several 10K and 5K races and fun runs. I thought then, I would switch to a new brand once I would have a new pair of shoes, but recently, I decided to stick to Saucony – loyal runner here! Besides, it’s cheaper, but the quality is really good!
Down memory lane
It rained cats and dogs on Sunday afternoon. My original plan changed and I went to SM Mall of Asia later after the rain subsided. It was quite a hassle because I went to the hypermarket first to buy a 300g Milo, as required for registration. You see, I was a bit unmindful when in haste, I grabbed a 220g Milo, together with a 300g, last week. That’s for my younger brother and me. But I needed to buy a new one.
So, I went on the long queue and waited for my turn. I also bought a set of plastic container to keep its content. I didn’t mind some people eagerly looking at me when I transferred its content and hurriedly went to Toby’s. To my surprise, the guy in-charge of the registration told that I could have used the 1000g or 1 kilo empty pack we had at home, when I asked if that could be used. That’s equivalent to three registrants already! HAHA! So tragic on my part!
It brought me down memory lane. I can’t remember that I gave an empty pack of Milo back in 2006 when I first join the 5K fun run on the 30th Milo Marathon. Nostalgic it was! I attempted to join again but only had the chance recently. I’m excited about it!
Let me run or I’ll die!
I’m exaggerating it! But that’s how I truly feel! Let me run, or I’ll die without running for a long time! HA HA!
Actually, I had my check-up and lab tests done about two weeks ago. My doctor was quite in panic because I’m so underweight! He advised me to stop running, even going to the gym, he said, I can only do brisk walking. But I arranged for a condition, if I gain weight, I would.
On Sunday, before breakfast, I went with Nicole to AMC Manila (formerly Manila Adventist Medical Center or Manila Sanitarium) to check my weight’s progress. Voila! I gained 5 kilos! Yehey!
It’s exhilarating! But at the back of my mind, I was thinking: “could that be only false hope?” I need to recheck my weight once I get back to the gym nearby our home. HA HA!
BTW, it is a first time on the 40th Milo Marathon to have finisher’s medals for 10K runners who would make it to the finish line on the cut-off time. Wow!
I joined the 30th Milo Marathon the first time! It was a 5K fun run as part of our requirements in P.E. 1. After a decade, there’s 10K finisher’s medal! How cool is that? So timely – a decade in between! And I’m gonna run for 10K since I still am not allowed to have distance running.
