It was a serendipitous story how I’ve got acquainted and had been a part of BAG943. I’ve believed that it was the Author of Life who made the provision, as He shared the delight to carry on its mission and vision with the selfless and generous community of compassionate givers.
BAG943 turns THREE this month! All Glory to God! It’s truly a triumphant milestone and the thrilling journey continues. Having seen and read the updates of progress brought mixed emotions: gratitude, gaiety, and tears of joy.
I’ve always waited for the BAG943 ladies’ bag, and what a delight to know that Tricia Gonsingtian, a fab fashion icon, blogger and travelover, is now BAG943’s designer! This is really something to watch out! 🙂
Cheerful as a Child
There’s always been a mysterious mirth I feel seeing children’s priceless happiness even in simple things. I wouldn’t wonder more why Jesus reminds us to be childlike with our faith, and to have childlike humility. 🙂 And it’s really precious to see them excited and happy for simple gifts, and simple gestures of love and care.
As the community of cheerful giver widens, like the ripple, making a lasting influence, more generous givers are joining the cause. The child BAG943 ambassador, Cassie Eng inspired me immensely. This sweet, Fil-Am girl is an Education advocate, and the Cassie’s Bag of Dreams Challenge 2 made it again!
Last year, Cassie raised funds $6,000 to help 300 kids, providing 300 backpacks and school supplies for “Badjau”school children in Lucena City. This year, as a birthday thanksgiving, like what she had last year, she already raised 300 school bags (w/ school supply sets) for the impoverished children of Project Pearls‘ “Ulingan” community in Bulacan. 🙂 Read about her story: http://globalnation.inquirer.net/108819/fil-am-girl-fills-badjao-kids-buckets-with-happiness

Every opportunity to help is a gift. It’s up to you to accept that gift, or to ignore it. Most of the times, opportunity comes but once. And if ignored, it’s a loss. You only realize sometimes when it’s beyond your grip, you already let go of it. I believe the old saying, “It’s better to give than to receive.” Selflessness is a cure for selfishness. The more you give with your heart, the more you cure yourself. The regular practice of giving becomes a habit, then if habitually done, it becomes character.
BAG943 is focused on social entrepreneurship that helps strengthen the habit of selfless giving. When you buy a backpack, another one is given to an impoverished kid. I support this cause because it gives hope for humanity. It’s more of a movement of generous culture, of compassion, of devotion for quality education. More and more impoverished children’s lives are forever changed with the help extended to them. The quality time spent, the interaction and conversation, the gestures of love and care — these make a concoction of legacy that leaves a lasting impression that lingers through the test of time.
Looking back to AmBAG campaign in 2014, the streams of happy memories overflow. Take time to read my old posts in my blog, Curly Bookworm (click the title to read the post). I’ve started this new site recently, and yet, I look forward to chronicling BAG943’s journey. You better subscribe in this blog to get fresh updates. A Child Chasing a Dream
Suddenly, I remember the kid recipient of my amBAG 🙂 John Carlo Bagarino, from Caluwayan, Marabut Samar. Seeing him happy made me even happier. Life’s greatest joys are in simple things indeed! A simple way of sharing love and faith could really make a great difference. I know the feeling because I’ve been a recipient of unconditional love, generous help and appreciation when I was just an insignificant, poor kid. I believe in the power of paying forward the kindness and love received.
Earlier, while I was typing this blog, I wasn’t able to hold back tears. I watched the recent video of a young boy, Nelson, who dreams to become a doctor. That dream has been empowered with the BAG943 backpack that inspired him to pursue his dream. His lovely smile shows his gratitude for those who care for him, and that someone believes in him.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.” ~ John Bunyan
