It was a great privilege to have an exceptional experience of joining the prestigious Condura Skyway Marathon on February 1, 2015. It’s Philippines’ prime race of the year. More than 15 thousand runners joined, and more than five thousand of them aspired to finish half-marathon. It was my first official half-marathon, and I’ve never been fulfilled like before!
It was humbling enough to be included among those who endured beyond a challenging distance. ‘Twas a remarkable 21-kilometer run with the PR of 2:37, not bad for a first-timer!

Down Memory Lane
During my training prior to the race, I had ran for more than three months. Most of the times, I was a lone runner. On the last 21K run before the race, I ran from my place (Puting Kahoy) to Paseo, then went back to Nuvali, all the way to Miriam College until Republik Wake Park, then went back to Nuvali (Seda Hotel). It was actually more than 21K. I finished strong, but I was so famished.
Imagine the carbs I’ve burned. I used to carbo-load two days before long runs, and I eat banana and carbs before I run as well. I had water and “GU” hydrating gel, but they were insufficient enough. I was craving for food big time!
Hungry for God
I have kept running as a vital part of my lifestyle. On the morning of June 7, 2015, I had this reverie on the road that reminded me of the refreshing event on Saturday afternoon until past 7:00 PM (the day before). It was a FASTING and prayer program, and yet ironically, it was FEASTING on God’s Word and testimonies from prayerful brethren.
I felt a craving which is more than that of what I felt after my training, mentioned above. It was a deep longing. I realized how spiritually malnourished I have been. I was famished big time!
There are friends and acquaintances who’ve been grateful for my endeavors which blessed them. They said they were inspired by my articles, testimonies, songs and ministry. All Glory to God for that! But although I seemed to be a flourishing fruit tree with blossoms blooming on summer, deep within, I am a withering tree that could be blown by a blustery wind. I’ve known myself much. If it not for His grace, I might have gone astray.
To be honest, I can’t brag about anything I’ve accomplished. I can only brag about God’s wonderful workings in my life.
God answers prayers. It wouldn’t be “YES” all the time. Sometimes, it could be “WAIT”. And although it could be “NO” at times, it’s surely for our own good.
After all, God is too wise to be mistaken. He is too good to be unkind. All we have to do is to TRUST His heart.
The essence of the program on was to be filled the deep hungering and thirsting after God:
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6
This promise of assurance resound as I feed on morning modern manna, and take the vitamins of verses: ‘Vital Life for Women’. I am grateful for the gift I’ve received as one of the participants of the program.
“Men shall not live by bread alone but by every WORD that proceeded from the mouth of God.” Matt. 4:4
I’ll have a special section in this blog for the daily introspection from the Vital Life for Woman. I’ve been truly blessed and I can’t afford to keep it for myself. Today, I’m already on the 25th daily dose of that vitamin. Keep posted! 🙂
This coming weekend, there would be another remarkable prayer event in AUP. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact the numbers in the poster. 🙂
When was the last time you felt so hungry? It’s not for literal food, but for that which satisfies not only the soul, but the spirit.
Watch and be blessed. This is one of the five videos of “Hungry for God: Prayer is Priority”
